Developing musicality through violin playing

The thesis is focused on the development of musicality in relation to playing the violin. It deals with development of musicality of children and students at elementary schools of arts. The aim of the historical part of the thesis is to describe the evolution of the violin and the bow. It outlines also the history of violin-making. The final chapter of the first part of the thesis is focused on history of the most important violin schools in Europe. The methodical part is focused on the playing the violin in terms of pedagogy and psychology. The introduction of the second part of the thesis deals with the diagnostics of musicality and preconditions for playing a music instrument. The sixth chapter describes education at elementary school of arts in relation to legislation and curricular documents applicable for the Czech republic. The aim of the last chapter is to analyse and compare different schools of violin playing for children and beginners which are commented and evaluated by the author of the thesis.
The Violin and its Usage in Teaching Music at the Elementary School Level

The diploma thesis deals with the violin and its usage in teaching music at the elementary school level. The theoretical part presents the history of the violin: from its invention, construction, and subsequent development. The first part also introduces well-known violinists, various techniques employed in playing the violin, and lastly, the violin's connection with folk music. The practical part presents methodological material focused on incorporating the violin into music education at the elementary school level. Methodical material is divided into individual topics. Czech Folk Song in Violin Pedagogy

This diploma thesis, titled Czech Folk Song in Violin Pedagogy, discusses the use of folk songs in classes of playing the violin. It presents general information about Czech folk songs, describes their characteristics, examines the forms of their existence in the present times, and thinks about their future. The practical part surveys the problems of their use in improving musical and performance skills and introduces violin instructive literature of arrangements of folk songs. The final part shows the results of the research, through the answers of the questionnaires, the goal of which was to find if violin pedagogues of these days use folk songs during their teaching and how much they use the potential of these songs for the formation of skills of playing the violin. Laterality influence on the violinists locomotor system disorders

ABSTRACT Title: Laterality influence on the violinists locomotor system disorders Objectives: The main object of this work is to find relation between laterality (dominance, preferences body) and forced left-sided activities - playing the violin, and to authenticate if the forced lateral activity indicate greater effect on musculosceletal disorders in the nondominant laterality. Methods: Questionnaire includes questionnaire part, preference task and performance task, it's anonymous. Probands are students of music conservatory and professionals violinist of chambre and symphony orchestra. The final number of probands who have involved the questionnaire is 110 (66 womens and 44 mens). Results: The hypothesis hasn't been confirmed.
